Flaxseeds contain viscous fibre which has many health benefits and also makes you feel fuller for longer. Flaxseeds are rich in antioxidants so including them in your diet improves immunity and helps fight against some diseases. Consumption also reduces blood sugar levels & improves insulin sensitivity, great for diabetics.
They are also highly beneficial for females as they help with symptoms of menopause (a time when a high fibre diet is recommended to aid digestion and prevent carb cravings and consequential weight gain) & they also help protect against breast cancer!
Make sure you eat ground flaxseeds as whole ones aren’t absorbed by your gut and aim for an average serving of around 2-4 ground flax seeds. Try them flashed, dashed and sprinkled over 100% organic greek yoghurt for a nutritious breakfast or with a smoothie or as a salad topping.
Finally Flaxseeds are also rich in omega-3 fatty acids – great for brain function, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and increasing your metabolism. What’s not to love?
